We will be launching our fundraising ventures in regard to the complex shortly and a brochure detailing the project is currently in circulation locally. The support of club players past and present, members, supporters, sponsors and the wider community will be required to bring the facility to completion, and your support will be very much appreciated at this time of great progress for the club.

U-21

There was major disappointment for the Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey U-21 team following a four-point loss (3-10 to 3-6) to St Mary’s in an absorbing ‘A’ Championship final last Sunday afternoon in Bunninadden. In what was a cracking contest, the sides were level 1-3 to 0-6 at the break , but St Mary’s established at 2-9 to 1-3 lead soon after the restart. Credit must go to our lads for their commendable fightback, but unfortunately their efforts fell just short. The team gave everything on the day and despite the loss can reflect on a very good campaign. Thanks to everyone for their efforts throughout the competition. The squad was as follows: S Kilgannon; I Barrett, M O’Dowd, J Ellis; D Sloyan, R McHugh (1-1), D Mullaney; M Gordon (0-3, 2fs), N Hannon; H Gilroy (0-1), T Mahon, C O’Dowd; K Duffy, J McHugh (1-1), O McCaffrey. Subs: B Fitzgerald, M Caffrey, D Greer, J Conway, J Cowley, K Duffy, R McKenna, E Moylan, E Brennan. Management: MJ Crean, P Cawley, C Mullaney, D Sloyan, E Lindsay, V Cuffe.

U-21

The Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey U-21 team progressed to the final of the ‘A’ Championship following a hard-fought 2-11 to 1-10 over Tourlestrane at Bunninadden last Sunday afternoon. It was a deserved win for our lads who worked hard throughout, but Tourlestrane hung in for long periods to make it a difficult hour, but the west Sligo boys secured their place in the final. The decider will take place next Sunday against St Mary’s, but the time, date and venue had yet to be announced at the time of writing. Keep an eye out locally for details – your support is greatly appreciated. An historic double is on the cards after many of the squad already captured the Minor A Championship already this year.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 30th October 2016
Minor

The year came to an end for the Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey minor team after they lost out to Castlebar Mitchels by four points, 3-13 to 3-9, in a pulsating Connacht Club quarter-final last Friday evening in Ballyhaunis. Despite a brilliant display, the lads fell just short but should be commended on a battling performance and indeed had things gone their way at crucial stages the outcome might have been different. However, there was very little fault in any aspect of the display and everyone should be proud of their efforts. The loss brought the curtain down on what was a historic couple of months after they claimed the county title only a week ago. Congratulations to the players and management on a successful season and well done to everyone involved. Thanks to Browne’s Pub in Pullaheeney for providing after-match refreshments on Friday evening and again to Lackan Wind Energy for their sponsorship of the team.
U-21
There was little rest for many of the minor boys who togged out for Sunday’s hard-fought 1-10 to 1-9 win over Calry/St Joseph’s at Hazelwood in round two of the U-21 ‘A’ Championship. A win over Tubbercurry/Cloonacool in the final round will see Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey top the group and qualify for the semi-finals. Time, date and venue for that fixture had yet to be made available at the time of writing but it will take place on November 5th/6th. Keep an eye out locally for details.
Surf and Turf
A massive thank you to all those who took part or helped out for our very successful Surf and Turf Run last Saturday. In excess of 120 participants braved the course on a fine morning, with everyone enjoying the mucky surrounds! Everyone enjoyed the day and the feedback afterwards was excellent from those who travelled from near and far. A full list of winners, pictures and everything else is available on the Enniscrone Surf and Turf Facebook page. A big thank you to Mattie Coleman and Coleman Electronics for their kind sponsorship of the event, and also to Eugene Nelson and MCM Insurance for sponsoring beanies for participants. We look forward to 2017’s event!
County scene
Commiserations to Eoin Hallinan and the Sligo U-16 boys on their 2-11 to 1-10 loss to Westmeath last Saturday. Eoin played at centre-half back for the third straight game.
Congrats
While everyone else was running around Quigabar and Lackan, sponsor of the Surf and Turf and club stalwart Mattie Coleman was preparing for the Dublin Marathon which he took part in and completed in a fine time on Sunday afternoon! Well done Mattie on a great achievement.

History was made on Sunday afternoon after the Enniscrone/Kilglass-Easkey minor team captured the Minor A Championship title courtesy of a 1-15 to 0-10 win over Owenmore Gaels at Markievicz Park. Level at half-time, 0-4 apiece, the team showed immense improvement in the second half to seal the honours. In what was a first for both clubs, this is a magnificent achievement so congratulations to the squad and management. We extend our thanks to Declan Rouse and Lacken Wind Energy for their sponsorship of team tops, and also to the Diamond Coast Hotel for post-match refreshments.

Our U-13 boys put in a good performance to defeat Coolaney/Mullinabreena at Quigabar last Sunday morning, 4-8 to 4-3. This was an especially good result given the absence of a couple of players plus the horrendous playing conditions. The team will hope to maintain their momentum when they play away to Geevagh next Sunday morning at 11am.
Astro-turf pitch development
Construction will soon start on our eagerly awaited indoor astro-turf complex at Quigabar. U-14
With our minor boys looking to win a county title this week, our U-14s did just that last Thursday evening when they captured the B2 Championship title courtesy of a fantastic 8-12 to 4-8 final defeat of St John’s at Scarden. One point ahead at the break, the lads put in a superb second half to run out deserving winners. This group has worked extremely hard all year and the title is just rewards for them having missed out narrowly at previous age groups. Well done to the management team of John Paul Carden, Brian Coleman and Padraic Byron. The triumphant squad included: Jason Wall, Michael Kilcullen, Tommy Quinn, Kenneth Mulrooney, Lee Tuffy, Robert Hannon, Oisin Hynes, Sean Quinn, Daniel O’Boyle, Dara Tuffy, Josh Battle, Brian Duffy, Joseph Martin, Gavin Duffy, Evan Walsh, Michael Tuffy, Oliver Olejicak, Ethan Carden, Oisin Hannon.

U-6/U-8/U-10
There was an enjoyable morning for our youngest players in Castleconnor last Saturday for one of their final blitzes against their west Sligo neighbours. There has been a lot of work ongoing at the younger age groups in recent years and given their performances throughout the year, plus the numbers we have, the future certainly looks bright. Their year will come to a close next weekend with a final blitz in Quigabar.

Our intermediate team bowed out of this year’s championship in very disappointing fashion after they suffered a 1-19 to 0-9 defeat at the hands of St Patrick’s last Sunday evening in Castleconnor. Intermediate

There was disappointment for players and management last weekend after an opening round loss to St Farnan’s in Group Three of the Intermediate Championship at Easkey, 1-11 to 2-3.
This was a competitive game, but St Farnan’s superior second half with the wind erased our early advantage after John Paul Carden’s goal 15 minutes in put us 1-2 to 0-1 ahead. Cillian O’Dowd netted early in the second half to give us a 2-2 to 0-6 advantage, but St Farnan’s pressure told and they ended as five-point winners.
The lads will aim to get their campaign back on track when they play St Mary’s next Sunday afternoon at 2pm in Group Two in a must-win encounter. Please support.
Minor
The minor team are set to amalgamate with Easkey to play in the Minor ‘A’ Championship. The first round is pencilled in for August 25th, which will see the team travel to take on Eastern Harps. The squad will meet for the first time this week.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 24th July 2016
Intermediate

There was major disappointment for our intermediate team and management last weekend when they suffered relegation to Division Three following a five-point loss to Geevagh at Quigabar, 1-11 to 2-3. A very disappointing first half resulted in a five-point half-time deficit, but after the break into the wind we took control to lead by a point with 15 minutes to go. However, a costly sending off midway through the half allowed Geevagh to stretch the game and they ran out winners. The team will have to regroup quickly, with the opening round of the Intermediate Championship next Saturday evening. They play St Farnan’s at 7pm in Easkey – please support the lads. Best of luck to everyone involved.

The minor team continue training this week in preparation for championship.

Intermediate
The intermediate team were beaten, 4-12 to 3-8, by Bunninadden in the Benson Cup last Sunday afternoon. 2-6 to 2-4 ahead at the break, we started the second half well into the wind but Bunninadden gradually stretched our defence and ran in two late goals to secure the win. They then had a great win over Eastern Harps in the semi-final (3-4 to 3-2) but fell at the final hurdle despite a gallant performance against Shamrock Gaels, final score 5-2 to 3-2. Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 29th May 2016
Intermediate

Last Sunday afternoon was a difficult one for our intermediate footballers, with Drumcliffe/Rosses Point emerging as 3-19 to 1-6 winners in a one-sided Division Two clash at Oxfield. Minus a whole host of regulars, our weakened team showed some positive signs in the opening half and trailed 0-9 to 0-3 at the break, but the home side dominated the second half exchanges to secure the points. With a break in the league now for a number of weeks, the Benson Cup is the focus from next weekend with Owenmore Gaels the visitors to Quigabar next Saturday evening at 7.30pm.
Minor
The minor team had a busy week. On Wednesday evening, St Pats were 3-9 to 1-12 winners in the league meeting in Quigabar. This was an improved showing but the concession of three sloppy goals was decisive and led to a disappointing loss. On Friday evening, depleted squad took part in the 7 aside competition in Corballa, where there were some useful performances against St Farnan’s and Castleconnor. There are no games for the next month or so due to the state exams taking place. We wish all players sitting the Leaving Cert all the best.
U-16
A youthful U-16 team put in a great showing to come away with a draw after a cracking game versus Coolaney/Mullinabreena last Monday evening. Without the services of four big players, the young side showed extremely well throughout to secure a 5-9 to 3-15 draw. The team is still in with a chance of making the knockout stages with one round left against St Mary’s in late June. Best wishes to everyone from the panel sitting the Junior Cert in the coming weeks. For those not restrained by academic commitments, there is a 7 aside blitz in Dromard next Friday evening against other west Sligo clubs.
U-14
The U-14 boys host Calry/St Joseph’s this Thursday evening at 7pm in Quigabar.
U-12
The U-12s were extremely unfortunate to lose to St Pats by a single point, 0-11 to 0-10, in their league encounter at Quigabar last Tuesday. Despite the loss, the lads can be very happy with their efforts.
U-6/U-8/U-10
Our youngest members had a very enjoyable evening playing against their counterparts from Ardnaree last Wednesday evening, with plenty of fine displays. Well done to everyone on their great work so far this year – keep it up!
Eoghan Rua win
Congratulations to the Eoghan Rua Senior Ladies on their win in the Division Two league final last Sunday afternoon. Well done to everyone involved especially those from the Enniscrone/Kilglass area.
Child Protection course
A number of coaches completed the child protection course held in the Diamond Coast Hotel last Monday evening. Thanks to Martin McHale for organising it from our end and to Eamon Mullen from the Sligo County Board for providing the opportunity.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 22nd May 2016
Intermediate

There was disappointment for our intermediate footballers last Sunday when Easkey emerged as three point winners at Quigabar in a keenly-contested Division Two clash, 1-10 to 3-7. The concession of sloppy goals was a source of real frustration for our lads, though a decent second half performance gave reason for optimism. Easkey led 1-6 to 0-3 at the break but our lads fought back in the second half despite being without a whole host of regulars for a variety of reasons. Next Sunday afternoon the team travel to Oxfield for a meeting with Drumcliffe/Rosses Point at 2pm.
Minor
The minor team play St Patrick’s in a rearranged league fixture at home this Wednesday evening. Please support the lads in this important game. Throw-in is at 7pm. The lads will also compete in a 7-aside blitz next Friday evening in Corballa against other west Sligo teams.

The U-16 boys play Coolaney/Mullinabreena at 7pm on Monday evening (May 23rd) at 7pm in Cloonacool.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 15th May 2016
Intermediate

Our intermediate team were extremely unfortunate to lose to St Patrick’s last Sunday on a final scoreline of 2-13 to 0-11. This was an unfair reflection on what was a fine game, where we led 0-7 to 0-4 at the break after a wind-assisted first half. Having started the second half in a similar vein, we were dealt a harsh blow when a red card midway through the half reduced our lads to 14 men. From there, despite our best efforts, St Patrick’s began to stretch the game and scored 2-1 in injury-time to give the scoreline an unbalanced look. Best wishes to Brian Coleman who sustained a shoulder injury. Next weekend, we host Easkey at 2pm in Quigabar on Sunday afternoon. Please support.
Minor
Our minor team surrendered a significant half time lead to labour to a draw with St John’s 1-11 to 2-8 at Carraroe last Friday evening. The first half saw the lads race into a 1-8 to 0-2 lead at the break, but some wayward attacking play saw us miss a number of chances. That came back to haunt the team in the second half when St John’s mounted a spirited comeback. Nonetheless, the team can reflect on some positive aspects. Next Friday evening St Patrick’s are the visitors to Quigabar in a must-win game. Throw-in at 7pm – please support.
U-16
The U-16s will continue training this week ahead of a trip to Cloonacool to take on Coolaney/Mullinabreena next Monday evening at 7pm.
U-14
On Thursday evening our U-14 boys travel to play St Michael’s at 7pm.
U-12
Well done to our U-12s on a fine win over Easkey last week on a 0-23 to 0-12 scoreline. This was a very good performance and just rewards for the team who have been unlucky in recent encounters. They will hope to continue their good form when they play St Patrick’s next Tuesday at 7pm in Quigabar.
U-6/U-8/U-10
Our U-10s enjoyed a good win over St Patrick’s last Wednesday, and then put in another good performance on Saturday morning against St Molaise Gaels but were narrowly beaten in the end. Next Wednesday evening they host Easkey at Quigabar.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 8th May
Boeing arrival
We’ve seen many types of boats in Killala Bay over the years, but never an aeroplane! However, this weekend that very thing happened with David McGowan’s Boeing 767 for Quirky Nights Glamping Village arriving in Enniscrone. It was a brilliant weekend and thankfully everything went well, with the plane making it to the site at the bottom of the village in the early hours of Sunday morning before huge crowds. Well done to David and all the crew on a brilliant engineering achievement, and on putting Enniscrone on the international map! Thanks a million to our 30-strong band of stewards for helping out and co-ordinator Joe Cawley for his efforts.

The U-16 team host St Molaise Gaels at 7pm on Monday evening (May 9th) at 7pm in Quigabar.
U-14
Our U-14 team had a terrific 4-15 to 6-5 win over St Farnan’s at Quigabar last Thursday evening. This was a brilliant game with both teams playing well, but our lads overturned a seven-point half time deficit with three late goals to secure the win. The next outing is away to St Michael’s on May 19th.
U-12
The U-12 boys play away against Easkey on Tuesday evening (May 10th) at 7pm.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 1st May 2016
Indoor Astro Turf complex given the go-ahead

It was a historic week for the club after Thursday night’s meeting ratified the construction of an indoor astro turf complex at our grounds in Quigabar. This terrific facility will also incorporate a gym, kitchen and toilet facilities. Having got the formal approval of club members, construction is set to start in the coming months, and the club will be embarking on a fundraising campaign to help fund the project over the next year. This is a landmark decision for the club and one which will harbour a new, modern era in the long history of GAA in the parish. It will provide a top-class facility for all of our teams, and will help develop better footballers for the club in the long run. We sincerely hope everyone will row in behind the project and make it the success it promises to be. More information will follow in the coming weeks.
Intermediate
Our intermediate team secured an important two points in Division Two last Saturday evening with an impressive 4-12 to 0-9 win over Owenmore Gaels at Quigabar. Boeing 767 arrival
As we all know, this Friday is the proposed arrival date for the Boeing 767 plane to Enniscrone for use at the glamping site at the bottom of the village. This is a world-first and a mammoth task, so the club wishes David McGowan and everyone involved the best of luck with the move. It has put Enniscrone on the world map and large crowds are expected locally for the arrival next Friday all going well.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 24th April 2016
Intermediate

Last Saturday evening’s trip to St John’s proved to be a fruitless one for our intermediate team with the Carraroe side claiming a 1-20 to 1-6 win. Without some regulars, our lads never got going and fell to a disappointing defeat. Everyone involved will look for improvement ahead of next Saturday’s meeting with Owenmore Gaels at Quigabar. That game has a 7pm throw-in time. Best of luck to everyone involved. Please support.
Minor
A depleted minor team went down to a two-point defeat away to St Michael’s last Friday evening. This was not as bad a display as the result would suggest, but the absence of a number of players made it a difficult task to secure a result. They will hope to bounce back when they play St John’s on May 6th.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA notes 10th April 2016
Intermediate

Our intermediate team fell to a disappointing 2-7 to 0-11 loss to Castleconnor in round three of the Division Two league last Sunday afternoon at Corballa. In a game marred by awful weather conditions, the concession of two soft first half goals proved decisive, despite a hard-working display. Level at half-time, Castleconnor just about edged the second half with the wind despite our lads best efforts. That said there were some encouraging signs in defeat. Next up is a home tie against Ballymote next Saturday evening at 6.30pm. Best wishes to Mark Caffrey who sustained a nasty-looking injury in the first half.
